I was born in Ladysmith Natal and matriculated at Vryheid High School in 1987. I studied law (BLC and LLB) at Pretoria University. After articles, I was admitted as an Advocate. My corporate career started as Legal Advisor with Old Mutual in 1995, several legal positions in ABSA, from Head of Legal Advisors at ABSA Trust to ABSA PFS and ABSA Offshore. Studying MBL at UNISA moved me away from the corporate environment. In that period, I also obtained ILPA.
I entered the entrepreneurial environment at PWC then Channel life and PSG and joined GAMFS in 2007 and finally help set up Latitude Wealth in its current form. What one does echoes in eternity and my core philosophy is that life and business is simply to add value to others. Life is short and I believe one should do what one can whilst one is able to do so. The baton then goes to someone else and so time ticks on.
I love biographies and autobiographies to learn from others. I love training and travelling. It teaches me about myself and my role in it as I am but a mere blimp in the bigger picture. My personal motto is to level up, especially when the odds are stacked against one. This can only be achieved by never ever giving up on my dreams.
Being raised on a farm was magic in my life. Respect for all life, people, animals, and nature came to me naturally. I thrive on spending my days with people. Kindness and humour help me guide through challenges in life. Positive thoughts keep me on track and words create reality, not just conversation.
Family is my cornerstone. I am an avid adventurer and love going off the beaten track into unexplored territory. However, there is one special place which transforms the world. The Kalahari. A slice of heaven pie where peace and quiet, permeate my thoughts until it is time to prepare the next steak around the “hardekool” fire.I have valuable experience in the financial services industry and began my career as a Financial Advisor in 2006.
A life long dream became reality when Latitude Wealth was established. It took time, for which I am grateful, because time taught us valuable lessons and experience along the way.
I achieved a three-year BHCS degree from The University of Pretoria and completed my Learnership Program in Financial Planning through PSG Consult in 2006. In 2008 I completed the Registered Financial Planner qualification through the Financial Planning Institute. I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning at the Free State University and became a Certified Financial Planner® professional and member of the the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa in 2013.
I am a novice to the financial sector, but this poses no threat as I am eager to learn and dedicated to my position and my future growth. My strong computing, accounting and analytical skills have stood me in good stead thus far.
Following my matriculation in 2018, I held a junior position in Project Management at an agricultural manufacturing company. As a starting job, this was beneficial to me since it was imperative for me to assimilate a great deal of responsibilities and tasks at an early stage in my career. Thereafter I had the privilege to be employed in an administrative position at an Aviation Labour Union which led to my current position as a Financial Advisor Assistant at Latitude Wealth. I am also currently studying part-time towards a Diploma in Digital Marketing and Copywriting which enhances my attention to detail and accuracy. My interests include modelling, fitness and health and the occasional break-away to the bushveld.
I have keen interests in self-development, outdoor sports and leisure, travel and making quality time for family and friends. Life can be fragile yet offer an abundance of gifts, with balance as the key. I believe practising gratitude leads to a joyful life. Experiencing the sunset over the Zambesi River is a treasure only Africa can offer. Turquoise waters are dreamy, but the bushveld knows my name, keeps my cup full and heart happy!
My parents modelled strong work ethics, kindness, and integrity every day. My mother said “talent will help, but hard work will win”. This is why I know how life and business revolve around relationships. Because of these great role models, I am always determined to put my best foot forward in everything I do.
One must recognize and seize challenging opportunities that come across your path and I am most grateful for the opportunity to join this team in 2019.
I obtained my B Comm degree from the University of Pretoria in 2008 and completed my PGCE in 2010. I have acquired valuable work experience over the years. All hard work is good experience for young people, and even being a waitress before graduating was extremely valuable, as it gave me a sense of what business is about. My education has been a huge benefit in my career thus far, and now apply this knowledge in assisting our clients with their investment journey.
